A 30+ year-old, profitable, family owned and operated company based in Oakville which has been rapidly growing since 2014. Further expansion has resulted in the need for this newly created position of Accounting Manager.

While maintaining the current efficiency of the seven-day close -including reporting on day seven, the Director of Finance is looking to add a hands-on individual with monthly financial reporting experience, a career and special projects achievement focused CPA/CFA positive contributor. A CPA or CFA who collaborates with their manager, takes direction, runs with the ad hoc job requirements to achieve goals, consistently and accurately meet deadlines and add value within a rapidly growing, private business.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the salary range for this Accounting Manager position is $80,000 to $96,000 (depending on candidate experience) plus comprehensive benefits (including annual CPA/CFA and training fees cost reimbursement) and an opportunity to earn a performance based bonus and the potential for further career development into either an Assistant Controller or Controller position within the company.

Summary of Position Goals:

The Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization. As independently as possible, look after getting the financial statements to the point where compilation is completed and there is an understanding of variances. Meet with the Director of Finance to review and discuss and make any changes necessary i.e. accruals required and any reconciliation adjustments. The Director of Finance will prepare the deferred revenue as it is a little complicated due to the nature of the business and hen the Director of Finance will prepare an executive review and present it to the President & VP, Operations.

 

Utilizing the newly implement Zoho ERP solution, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for positively contributing to financial reporting, analyzing financial data and implementing best practices in accounting. Utilizing the benefits of the new Zoho system, help reduce month end to having everything done within 7 days.

 

The Accounting Manager needs to positively contribute to the company’s continued growth by maintaining accurate financial records and providing insightful analysis that supports strategic decision making. Microsoft Excel (V Look Ups & Pivot Tables at a minimum) skills are required.

 

The Accounting Manager shall help the Director of Finance with compiling budget information and take on the important project of bringing forward additional, documented, internal controls.

 

Eventually, the Accounting Manager will also assist the Director of Finance to hire a Jr. Accountant and begin to ‘supervise’ that person’s work before being considered for potential promotion to Assistant Controller/Controller and thereby being required to formally ‘manage’ then work and development of the Jr. Accountant.

Position Responsibilities:

Utilizing Canadian GAAP and having to produce US GAAP separate reporting for the US business, be responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance reporting results including ratios, KPIs to the Director of Finance.

Manage the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate postings and reconciliations. 

Take ownership of your month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting. Experience in inter-company reconciliations and consolidation procedures.

Develop, implement, communicate and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide financial insights to leadership.

Maintain cash flow model on a timely basis and highlight and communicate any issues to the Director of Finance.

Support tax compliance efforts, including preparing documentation for corporate tax filings and liaising with external tax advisors (Canada & USA).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to further streamline financial processes and enhance operational efficiencies. 

Participate in financial audits and reviews and ensure timely responses to their inquiries.

Assist the Director of Finance in ad-hoc inquiries.
